Product Introduction
This product is a low-melting-point elastic hot-melt adhesive primarily made from GRS-certified recycled polyurethane, PCL, PLA, PBAT, and other biodegradable plastics, along with coffee grounds as the main raw materials. It significantly reduces the use of traditional plastics, with biodegradable/recyclable materials accounting for approximately 85% of the total product. It is a bio-based biodegradable material suitable for footwear applications.
Manufacturing Process
The production process begins with pre-treatment of coffee grounds, including modification, drying, grinding, and pelletizing, to improve their processability. The treated coffee grounds are then melt-extruded with TPU and other materials using a twin-screw extruder.
Rationale for Product Design
1. Stable supply of coffee grounds: The global annual output of coffee grounds is approximately 6 million tons, with China's annual production reaching 400,000 tons. Instant coffee factories and coffee shops generate a stable daily supply, making recycling costs manageable.
2. Enhanced material properties: The main components of coffee grounds, such as cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, can improve compatibility with certain polyester plastics after high-temperature heating, enhancing the material's mechanical performance and thermal stability.
3. Advantages of recycled polyurethane: GRS-certified recycled polyurethane offers excellent wear resistance, low-temperature resistance, toughness, elasticity, oil resistance, and chemical resistance. It serves as an important source of polyurethane, reducing the consumption of petrochemical raw materials.
